[TW for sex trafficking, rape, violence, and pedophilia]
I received this email today from a friend and it disturbed me so much that I had to post it here and get the word out:
Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Acquaintances,
I dare to bother you with an urgent matter….
There are no words to truly describe how horrendous and upsetting this is. Please read and send an email as requested. Seriously, do it.
Cristian Fernandez is only 12 years old. And if Florida prosecutor Angela Corey has her way, he’ll never leave jail again.
Cristian hasn’t had an easy life. He’s the same age now as his mother was when he was born. He’s a survivor of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. In 2010, Cristian watched his stepfather commit suicide to avoid being charged with abusing Cristian.
Last January, Cristian was wrestling with his 2-year-old brother, David, and accidentally broke David’s leg. Despite this, their mother left Cristian with his brother again in March. While the two boys were alone, Cristian allegedly pushed his brother against a bookcase, and David sustained a head injury. After their mother returned home, she waited six hours before taking David to the hospital. David eventually died.
Now Cristian is being charged with first degree murder — as an adult. He’s the youngest person in the history of his Florida county to receive this charge, and his next hearing is scheduled for tomorrow.

I know I already reblogged a post about it, but I just want to make a more formal one, I guess.
I just discovered Emotional Baggage Check, and I already love it! You can either “check in” your baggage by writing a post venting about whatever happens to be bothering you (it can be about anything) and submitting it, or you can “carry” someone else’s baggage by receiving a post of someone else’s problems, and sending them a song of your choice as well as a personal message. All you need is an e-mail to check in.
This is a lovely tool for getting things off your chest, and for reaching out to someone you might not have ever been able to help otherwise. Not to mention I’m a huge sucker for the power of music!
This is actually pretty cool.
UH-MAZING!
I just did this and it surprised me how good it makes you feel to send a song to someone.

Police pen up and mace female “Occupy Wall Street” protesters
In a disturbing scene from today’s “Occupy Wall Street” protests, a group of peaceful female protesters were rounded up in an orange-colored mesh pen by police and subsequently sprayed with mace without any provocation.
In spite of multiple reported incidents of possible police violence, major media outlets seem to be content to let the protests go by completely unreported, following the same “who-cares” attitude they have taken toward recent revelations that the NYPD has violated the Constitutional rights of American citizens by spying on them as possible terrorists and enemies of the state despite a complete absence of evidence of any crimes.
This is absolutely disturbing. Penning people up to mace them is police brutality. Period. What will it take to get the mainstream media to pay attention? If you follow the #OccupyWallStreet, you’ll find out that at least 80 were arrested today. AP and Wall Street Journal mentioned the arrests briefly today.
